Springbank Cottage - Getting There

Bute is easily accessible by public transport or car from Glasgow. For those travelling by air, there is a short (12 minute) bus link (service number 757) from Glasgow airport to Paisley Gilmore Street railway station - trains from this station go direct to Wemyss bay every hour.

There are two ferry routes between Bute and the mainland. The shortest one is via Colintraive, but this is rather a long way round for most people. The most popular is between Rothesay and Wemyss Bay, which is served by a frequent rail link from Glasgow.
Click the following link for more information about the ferries: http://www.calmac.co.uk/destinations/bute.htm.
The ferry journey between Wemyss Bay & Rothesay takes about 35 minutes. The train journey between Glasgow Central and Wemyss Bay takes about 50 minutes.

You can walk, take a bus, or take a taxi to get from Rothesay to Springbank Cottage.
Busses: The Rothesay busses go from Guildford square opposite the ferry. Bus nos. 477, 478, 479, and 490, going to the left (when facing the sea), and in the direction of Ardbeg, will pass the house. The stop is the first one after the Palmyra guest house.

Please double-check public transport times before travelling, as they may have changed since this website was last updated.
